This lets you send your little demon out and about to beat things up by itself, but you'd best be sure that your human opponent doesn't use this opening to walk right up and steal your own spellbook.
There actually is a way to directly control your mamodo, but it requires you to relinquish control of your human character in the interim. Of course, you can also win by blasting the other team's mamodo into ashes with your magic, which is probably the more likely scenario. (Given human characters' quick evade moves, this could prove challenging.) If you can snatch it up before they recover it themselves, that's the match: you win. While it won't knock out mamodo, landing it on a fellow human will up the odds of them dropping their spellbook. Somewhat amusingly, human characters also have their own melee attacks, such as a stiff right hook in the case of Zatch's partner Kiyo. Holding the spell button for different amounts of time determines which spell will be cast, and upon release the mamodo will jump into action to cast it. They will attack, however, when you charge up one of up to six spells. When you run around the arena the mamodo will follow closely. For one, this time out you control the mamodo's human partner instead of the mamodo itself. Puppet The new gameplay system has a few interesting new rules. Zatch Bell: Mamodo Fury uses more of an open-area Power Stone-style system, which not only makes for a different-feeling game but also opens up the action for up to four players at once.
The previous Zatch Bell game was a lightweight and mildly entertaining versus fighter, sort of like a Dragon Ball scrapper with puppets instead of improbable haircuts. well, unless you're the creators of Zatch Bell, in which case, kudos. In this case, it's the story of an intensely creepy little puppet-boy (actually a demon, or mamodo) from another dimension who's traveled to Earth to form symbiotic relationships with select humans and fight a bunch of other creepy puppet/child things, all in the hopes of becoming the king in his own dimension. Zatch Bell is one of those weird, wacky animes that can prompt a double- or even triple-take upon first hearing the sordid details of its plot.
